Taming difficulty
Take the detour only when Feralas is already on your route.
Work the Twin Colossals side from clear ground. Treant patrols make the Feralas channel difficult, and another Hunter may already be waiting on the spawn. Do not contest the tame when a patrol is about to join it.
Use in HC
A Feralas owl with Screech for crowded dungeon pulls. The white skin is a cosmetic bonus.

Put an owl in the pack and use Screech to reduce nearby melee damage. That is where the family earns its dungeon slot. A single target does not show the same strength.
Owl family
Screech matters when several mobs are hitting the same target. Its value is strongest in dungeon pulls.
