Shared abilities, a family verdict, and the tame conditions that matter.
Bear
A reliable default for a Hunter. Armor, Growl, Claw, and a broad diet make the bear easy to keep stocked.
Cat
Fast attacks and quick kills for a Hunter who keeps the pull clean. Lower armor makes long tanking pulls hard on a cat.
Wolf
Furious Howl rewards a timed Auto Shot or Raptor Strike. Meat is the only food requirement.
Boar
Charge starts the pull and the broad diet keeps early pet food simple. A good first pet.
Raptor
Claw and Bite make a clean fight short. Lower armor makes a long pull harder on the pet.
Wind Serpent
Lightning Breath deals damage while the target is moving toward you. Keep the serpent out of prolonged melee.
Owl
Screech matters when several mobs are hitting the same target. Its value is strongest in dungeon pulls.
Bat
A Horde-friendly Screech pet with a fruit and fungus diet. Its group value is strongest on packs.
Carrion Bird
Screech and Demoralizing Screech reduce pressure from melee packs. Bring one for crowded dungeon pulls.
Turtle
High armor and Shell Shield buy time when a pull turns bad.
Crab
An early tank pet with armor, Claw, Growl, and convenient coastal tames.
Scorpid
Scorpid Poison is strongest in long fights that last for several stacks. Meat is the only food requirement.
Spider
Web roots an add for five seconds. Damage breaks the root, so do not hit it before you are ready to switch targets.
Gorilla
Thunderstomp helps hold threat on stacked dungeon targets. It has less value against a solo target.
Hyena
Howl and Bite make a workable DPS pet. Cats and raptors have a stronger Hardcore case.
Crocolisk
Bite provides early damage. Lower armor makes a crocolisk a less forgiving tank pet than a bear.
Tallstrider
Bite and a flexible diet in a cosmetic package. A bear or cat offers a stronger Hardcore role.
