    Frostsaber shelf

    Map label: Frostsaber shelf

    Risk
    AmbushPatrol
    Area
The open snowfield between the Starfall Village road and Frostsaber Rock, where Winterspring Frostsabers and Shardtooth Bears hold the drifts on both sides of the track.
    Failure state
A frostsaber opens from behind a drift you could not see past, the Shardtooth Bear already on you stays on you, and the road is two ridges back.
    Exit call
Cross the shelf on the road at full health. If a cat joins a fight already in progress, run south to the road instead of holding both on open snow.

    Frostmaul flats

    Map label: Frostmaul giants

    Risk
    AmbushPatrolTravel
    Area
The southern glacier flats below Owl Wing Thicket, where Frostmaul Giants and Frostmaul Preservers walk long lines between the ice pillars and the shard fields.
    Failure state
A giant's knockback drops the character inside a second giant's walking line with no pillar or ridge between the two.
    Exit call
Work shards only from pillars with two clear sides and never with a giant closing. On a knockback, run uphill toward Owl Wing Thicket rather than back across the flats.

    Darkwhisper Gorge

    Map label: Darkwhisper demons

    Risk
    EliteDense campAmbush
    Area
The southern pass and crater camps of Darkwhisper Gorge, held by level 60 elite demons standing in linked groups either side of the descent.
    Failure state
The southern road runs out at the pass, one step past it pulls a linked pair of level 60 elite demons, and the climb back out is longer than the fight lasts.
    Exit call
Turn around at the pass. No quest in this route sends you inside, so treat the gorge mouth as the southern edge of the zone.

The turn-in is in the Plaguelands, so the character dies on the Felwood road or on the Western Plaguelands approach carrying a quest item picked up in a town it never had to leave.
    Exit call
Hold the report until a Plaguelands trip is already planned. If you run it now, take the Timbermaw tunnel road rather than the Felwood coast and turn back at the first Deadwood pull you cannot break.

A Winterfall Totemic heals from inside the hut line while a Den Watcher and a Pathfinder close from two sides, and the fight runs long enough for the first kill to respawn behind you.
    Exit call

    Failure state
You follow a runner off the open ground toward Winterfall Village and arrive at the camp edge with the runner still up and two Pathfinders already pulled.
    Exit call
Take runners on open ground and let one go rather than chasing it uphill. If the chase crosses the last ridge before the village, drop the tag and walk back out.

The Chief stands inside the camp, so the pull brings a Den Watcher and an Ursa with him and the fight ends with three furbolgs on one target.
    Exit call

Levels 55-60

Winterspring is the last leveling zone and the one with the longest runs back. Everlook is the only real reset, so plan every objective as a round trip from it rather than a step along a loop.

What kills characters here

  • Frostsabers and Shardtooth Bears: they hold the drifts on both sides of the Starfall Village road.

  • Frostmaul giants: long patrol lines across the southern glacier flats, with little cover between pillars.

  • Darkwhisper Gorge: level 60 elite demons in linked groups either side of the descent. This is a stop, not a detour.

Plan the trips

  • Make Everlook the hub. Every objective is a round trip, not a leg of a loop.

  • Keep the Ice Thistle caves on their own branch. Cave pulls have no reset lane.

  • Treat Mazthoril and Darkwhisper Gorge as endpoints. The route stops there; it does not pass through.

The reset is the plan

At 59 the run back is the most expensive thing in the zone. Bank at Everlook before every trip.
