Stonetalon Mountains

Keep the shared, Horde, and Alliance trips separate, use the main road as the reset, skip the mine defense, and leave elite spiders and cave summons for a prepared group or later pass.

Map guidance

The Classic zone map is decorative. Numbered markers match the checkpoint cards below. Hazard highlights show approximate risk corridors or areas, never exact spawn points or patrol paths; the visible zone-wide hazard list following the figure carries the equivalent warning details.

Map anchors
  • Stonetalon Peak (A) (camp)
  • Mirkfallon Lake (coast)
  • Sun Rock Retreat (H) (camp)

Annotated Classic zone map. Quest callouts give a short checkpoint label, verdict, safety level, and first listed risk; +N means the card lists more risks. Hazard highlights mark approximate risk corridors or areas, not exact spawn points or patrol paths. Connection relationships are not drawn as navigation lines. Read the faction label on every card and reset to the main road between branches. The Sorrow Wing samples describe a broad risk loop, and the Sister Riven sample marks a risk area. Neither warning is an exact spawn or safe-path trace. Confirm exact navigation in game. Numbered markers match the ordered checklist below.

Prepare the failure states

Read the lessons that match this map's terrain, group pressure, travel, and reset risks.

Core levels 18-25, later returns

The directory keeps Stonetalon in its core 15-25 discovery band, but this is not one leveling loop. The final cards are deliberate later returns through level 27, and the rare warning layer reaches 28. Both factions can take the shared Deepmoss and Windshear decisions, Horde characters start with the southern escort and cave layer, and Alliance characters use separate Windshear, Pridewing, and Charred Vale cards. Read the faction label before leaving the main road.

Reset between commitments

Treat each escort, cave, event, and Charred Vale pass as an out-and-back trip. Quest database levels describe eligibility, while the visible safety level and verdict are draft Buff My Pet recommendations. Leave when the named exit call stops being available.

Where next

Return to The Barrens when a Stonetalon branch is not ready. Continue to Ashenvale only when its route matches your faction and level.
